Name:
Paul Weimer
Occupation:
Bodily Injury Claims Adjuster
Staff Level:
Crossroads
In my spare time, I:
Play basketball, read, and hang out with friends and family.
I joined the Crossroads Staff because:
LaRissa (my wife) and I had been praying for over a
year prior to joining the staff that the Lord would provide an opportunity for
me to serve in a teaching capacity. Last winter, we were approached to join
Youth Staff and were absolutely thrilled and ready to serve in this way. This
is my first long term ministry experience.
I think the best part of being
involved with this age
group is: When I see mature
Christians at a young age it is a great motivation and encouragement in my
life. Being faithful to God’s Word while a youth is awesome!
My
favorite FBC Crossroads memory:
Playing a never ending game of knockout from half
court with the guys during the last winter retreat.
My favorite verse
is: Proverbs 1:7, “The fear of the
Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.”
My Testimony:
Fortunately, my testimony
is more about God, than about me. I grew up in a first generation Christian
home with both parents and my brother. I went to church regularly and professed
to know Christ at a fairly young age. However, as I went through high school I
was not protected with the armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18) because I did not
know God’s Word. As a young man I entered into the trenches of our culture and
did not stand a chance apart from God’s protection. Certainly, I could have had
greater victories at a young age had I been equipped, but fortunately God
protected me despite myself and directed me to Cedarville University for my
college years.
While in college I began
to understand that being a believer in Christ means a daily commitment to his
Word and what it teaches. I cannot point back to a specific time that I was
saved but the Lord certainly pursued me during my first semester in college and
made it clear that I had to be committed whole-heartedly to him alone (Matthew
22:37-40). It was during my college years that I began to make a serious
commitment to studying God’s Word and allowing the obedience to the Bible change
how I lived my everyday life. I gained knowledge because I was fearing the Lord
(Proverbs 1:7) and giving his Word the respect and attention it deserves.
I
am absolutely thrilled to be here at Faith Bible Church where LaRissa and I have
been members for over two years. Ever since coming back to this area after
college I have been growing in my faith at this church. I am thankful for this
opportunity to serve the church through Youth Staff (Ephesians 4:16). I pray
that the Lord will use me to help the youth of our church to fear God and begin
to understand what it means to be wise in Christ, so that we may honor him with
our lives.
